Nike Air Force One Shoe

story of Nike and Nike Air Force

Simple idea about Nike, Inc

Nike is an American company begins in January 25/1964 as BLUE RIBBON SPORTS by Bill Bowerman and Philip Knight, and officially become Nike, Inc on May 30/1978.

The name of the company (Nike) and the logo (swoosh) is inspired by the Greek goddess of victory Nike.

Simple idea about the logo

BLUE RIBBON SPORTS needed a new logo for a line of sneakers that the company was preparing to launch in 1972, so Philip Knight ask from Carolyn Davidson( a graphic design student at Portland State University) for design ideas, and she agreed to work for him as a freelancer for a salary of two dollars per hour.

In June 1971, Davidson made several proposals to Knight and other executives of BLUE RIBBON SPORTS, which ultimately choose the symbol used today.

The logo of Nike swoosh was chosen in an emergency, without really convincing, so we can say that swoosh was very lucky and it’s the right chose for the company Nike and it’s the right sign of victory.

And Davidson gets 35 dollars from this small job (or maybe great job).
